A new chapter has begun for me in 2024. I have greatly reduced my teaching schedule. It is an exciting transition period as I move from running German language 200 and 300 hour teacher training programs in Munich for my Akademie, to developing trainings in English in my new home of Bali.

In Ubud, Bali I am collaborating with the yoga studio Radiantly Alive to plan teacher trainings and educational programs. Later this year I expect to be announcing new programs for 2024 and 2025 .

Yogic Self-Care : Grounding Vata

This practical workshop offers Ayurvedic wisdom to soothe and nourish the nervous system. You will learn how to reduce Vata to feel more grounded, safe, calm, and focused.

Vata is the Ayurvedic principle encompassing movement, change, the nervous system, mental activity, and pain. When our Vata is high, we may feel anxious, sleepless, distracted, experience joint pain, feel stressed, and “up in the air.”

Join Barbra to get grounded with some earthy practices. She will share how to adapt your yoga practice to reduce Vata. The physical practice will focus on the lower back, hips, and legs, featuring specific biomechanics for a more therapeutically aligned asana practice. This workshop also includes pranayama and meditation to balance Vata.

We will discuss Vata from a mind-body perspective and how to notice when Vata is increasing. You will leave this workshop knowing which movement practices, foods, lifestyle habits, and routines help reduce Vata.

You will gain a better understanding of how to take care of yourself in demanding times and a greater capacity for self-compassion.

  • Lecture and theory: An introduction to the basics of Ayurveda and Vata Dosha
  • Practice: A Vata Balancing asana practice that focuses on the lower back, hips and knees. It also includes strength and conditioning for the legs.
  • Dinacharya: Discuss lifestyle habits and daily routines for a calmer, more balanced life.
  • Journaling: Design a simple yoga practice and Dinacharya (daily routine) to serve you in stressful times.
